Q. Why is the refurbishment
taking place?
The plant which operates
the current Vapour area is reaching the end of its useful life i.e. the
plant to the small steam room has been out of action since 2008 and is
beyond repair. There is also a need for the area to comply with and be
managed in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
The area itself is very old and tired and is in need of rejuvenation and
remodelling. The customer and non customer feedback is that it could be
greatly improved and that it does not currently meet expectations.
To summarise, due to the mechanical and operational issues, this is an
opportunity to provide a new, contemporary Spa experience to attract a
much wider range of customers whilst continuing to provide the steam provision
for the existing clientele. Q. Why is the plunge
being removed? The customer consultation
which took place indicated that a minority of customers use the plunge
pool and many have requested the addition of a Jacuzzi. The benefits of
the plunge experience will be partly accommodated by a new ‘bucket
shower’. Whilst it is appreciated that this is not the same for
those who enjoy the plunge, it is believed to be a fair compromise and
will be more in keeping with current health and safety guidance and legislation. Q. Will there still
be single sex sessions? Yes, plus some mixed sessions Q. What will the
opening times be? We are currently seeking
advice and consulting other spas and it is our intention to publicise
and communicate the new opening times prior to the opening. Q. What will the
price be? The session prices with
towel hire will be £9.50 for adults and £4.50 for OAP’s.
The price without towels will be £5.80.
Ladies Recreation will be £5.50 without towels or £9.50 with
towels provided. In addition we intend to
operate day spa packages to encourage more users which will incorporate
a beauty treatment and allow longer access to the Spa facilities. Q. Will there be
towels? Yes, there will be towels
available for hire, however customers will be able to use their own towels
in the Spa. Q. Will there be
food and drink available? Yes, in the new Spa Café
which will offer more healthy options. Q. Will there still
be Ladies Recreation sessions? Yes Q. Why are there
three changing rooms on the plan? There are separate men’s,
women’s and a disabled changing areas, however on single sex sessions,
all the changing rooms will cater for that particular session. Q. What is the therapy
pool on the plan? This is a Jacuzzi. Q. What is an experience
shower? A shower which allows for
different water flow dependent upon which button the customer presses,
i.e. tropical, monsoon etc Q. What is an aroma
room? A steam room with essences. Q. What treatments
will be offered in the therapy rooms? A. The existing health and
beauty studio will provide treatments in the new rooms. They will offer
the full range of beauty therapy and will be able to offer new body treatments
in addition to the current range. Q. What is happening
in the reception area? The reception area is being
modernised and remodelled to provide access and egress both from the high
street and rear car park. The aim is to improve communication by having
a central desk which is more welcoming to customers. There will also be
new entrance systems which will help to better control the access to areas
within the building for paying customers and members. |
