CANOEING/KAYAKING

British Canoeing PADDLE POWER PASSPORT

Aimed at under 14s this is a staged award, breaking the skills of the BCU 1 Star down into manageable sized chunks. Completion of level 5 is recognised as the equivalent to an adult’s British Canoeing 1 Star.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

No previous experience required. Minimum age 8

British Canoeing PADDLE POWER DISCOVER

Aimed at under 14s this is a staged award, moving on a level for those who have already gained their Paddle Power Passport. Completion of level 9 is recognised as equivalent to an adult’s British Canoeing 2 star. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Paddle Power Passport completed to level 5

British canoeing 1 star award - £85


A full day course to give an introduction to the skills needed to move a canoe or kayak effectively on the water. The course will also cover some simple theory on safety and equipment. Demonstrating a controlled capsize and swim from a boat is likely to be a part of this course. Satisfactory completion of the syllabus on the day will lead to candidates being awarded their British Canoeing 1 Star award.
