SAILING

RYA LEVEL 1

RYA LEVEL 1 DINGHY– START SAILING

An introduction to sailing over two days, it follows the RYA syllabus and is a certificated course; RYA Logbook, handbook and certificate included.

The instructor will teach parts of the boat, rigging and de-rigging, launch and recovery, capsize theory (practical required at Level 2), how to steer, set the sails, tacking and gybing and sailing at all points to the wind. This course covers the minimum knowledge to get afloat under supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

No previous experience is required and non-swimmers are welcome.

 

Courses available over 1 weekend.

4th and 5th August

8th and 9th September

6th and 7th October

RYA LEVEL 2

A two-day course that follows the RYA syllabus, as outlined in the logbook and G4 National Sailing Scheme book. It aims to improve your skills in tacking, gybing, sailing upwind, downwind and improving understanding and use of the ‘Five Essentials’. Capsize drill is part of this course. This course develops the techniques to sail independently.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

RYA Level 1 with additional experience and ability to Level 1 or above.

 

Courses available over 1 weekend.

18th and 19th August

15th and 16th September

20th and 21st October
